Pinot Noir 2025 Vin de France, Jean Colin, Loire, France

An elegant Pinot Noir... Lovely ruby colour with purplish highlights. An elegant nose opening with aromas of red berries. The palate is supple and offers flavours of small red fruits (raspberry) and crushed strawberries.
Light and elegant, the finish is soft and fruity

While 'Vin de France' is, theoretically a very general level of wine control, Jean Colin make their VDF wines in the Loire, with terroir & grapes they know and understand. This Pinot Noir is from vineyards with a similar clay/limestone soil to their more famous wines (Sancerre, Pouilly Fumé etc) but from outside those specific appellations.
In this case, there are a few differences to the white wine production method - the grapes are de-stemmed and sorted before pressing and undergo a short cold pre-fermentation (to extract colour, initial aromas, etc)
After a full alcoholic fermentation (2 to 3 weeks) it is racked and blended and undergoes a second (malolactic) fermentation and rests in tank for a few months before being bottled.

All our wines from Jean Colin have a wax seal over the cork so they look great! But a tip! Don't try to cut the wax off - just screw your (quality) corkscrew/waiter's friend through the wax and into the cork - the wax will crack and fall off! Too much work if you try anything else!
